OpisThis article will discuss the issue of the baptisim of the Holy Spirit: what it is, how is it manifested, and what are its fruits. In the introduction, the problem and the questions pertaining to the Holy Spirit baptism are stated together with the thesis that will be tested. The thesis is that the baptism of the Holy Spirit biblically understood is a unique and unrepeatable event universal to all Christians, which happens instantaneously with salvation (when the believer is placed in Christ and joined to his body) and that this baptism is not marked by any immediate and special outward sign. First, this article will present different views on the doctrine of Holy Spirit baptism with historical developments of the views. Then it will deal with biblical data, focusing on all major passages. Special attention will be given to the Book of Acts, and “the second blessing” theology, which is the crux of the doctrine. Then the relation of hermeneutics and experience will also be discussed. Finally, the conclusion and the practical implications of the baptism of the Holy Spirit and biblical admonishments for the Christian life will be given.Ovaj članak bavit će se krštenjem u Duhu Svetome: što ono zapravo jest, kako se manifestira i koji su njegovi plodovi. U uvodu je prvo iznesena problematika i pitanja koja se vežu uz temu krštenja u Duhu, zajedno s tezom koja će biti testirana. Teza je da je krštenje u Duhu Svetome biblijski najrazumljivije ako se shvati kao jedinstven i neponovljiv događaj, svojstven svim kršćanima, a koji se događa u trenutku spasenja te da ga ne prate nikakvi trenutni i izvanjski znaci. U prvom su dijelu članka prezentirani različiti pogledi na doktrinu krštenja u Duhu Svetome i njihovi povijesni razvoji. Tada se prelazi na analizu biblijskih podataka, a u fokusu su svi glavni odjeljci koji se bave tom temom. Poseban je naglasak stavljen na knjigu Djela apostolskih i teologiju „drugog blagoslova”, koja se nalazi u središtu debate. Zatim se raspravlja o odnosu hermeneutike i iskustva. Konačno, u zaključku daje se praktičan pogled na krštenje u Duhu te biblijski poticaj na kršćanski život.

OpisWood modification is an appropriate way of improving the natural durability and dimensional stability of wood without the use of biocides. Different thermal and chemical wood modification processes are available for this purpose, very differently affecting the structural integrity of wood. In this study, thermally modified, melamine resin treated, acetylated, furfurylated, and mDMDHEU treated wood underwent abrasion tests according to two different methods representing different loads in practice. The Taber Abraser method caused crosswise cutting into the wood surface, while the Shaker method challenged mainly the specimen edges with dynamic loads. Abrasion resistance of wood was affected by all types of cell wall modification, but the effects were strongly dependent on the type of modification and the applied load type. For characterising the suitability of wooden materials with respect to wear resistance under outdoor conditions, it is recommended to apply a set of methods rather than a single test procedure to fully reflect the loads occurring in practice.Modifikacija drva prikladan je način poboljšanja njegove prirodne trajnosti i dimenzijske stabilnosti bez upotrebe biocida. Za tu namjenu dostupni su različiti postupci toplinske i kemijske modifikacije, ali oni vrlo različito utječu na strukturni integritet drva. U ovom su istraživanju toplinski modificirano drvo, drvo modificirano melaminskom smolom, acetilirano i furfurilirano drvo te drvo modificirano mDMDHEU-om podvrgnuti ispitivanju otpornosti na habanje, i to primjenom dviju različitih metoda koje u praksi rezultiraju različitim opterećenjima. Metoda Taber abraser uzrokovala je poprečno habanje površine drva, a metoda Shaker dinamičkim je opterećenjima uglavnom prouzročila habanje rubova uzoraka. Na otpornost drva na habanje utjecale su sve vrste modifikacija drvnih stanica, ali učinci su izrazito ovisili o vrsti modifikacije i vrsti opterećenja. Za karakterizaciju prikladnosti drvnih materijala s obzirom na otpornost na habanje u vanjskim uvjetima preporučuje se primijeniti skup metoda, što je bolje od primjene samo jedne vrste ispitivanja kako bi se u potpunosti simulirala opterećenja koja se pojavljuju u praksi.

OpisThere has been a universal agreement in the last couple of decades that bioethics education at all levels should be provided to citizens through the adoption of the Universal Declaration on the Human Genome and Human Rights by the UNESCO General Conference in 1997 and by the United Nations General Assembly in 1998. The work of bioethical educators in moral and (bio)ethical values was applied to the issues raised by modern science and technology. The process of learning is also recognized as being the result of complex interacting influences. Teaching in a bioethical context must recognize these interconnections because of the internal application to and impact on peoples’ lives. Furthermore, teaching in a bioethical context needs to use pedagogies that engage students in participatory activities to enable the development of multiple dimensions of knowledge. These dimensions include the scientific content as well as the personal, social, and emotional aspects associated with any particular bioethical issue. Therefore, it is crucial to highlight the importance of focusing on the nature of the controversy, recognizing that opinions are based on particular worldviews and critical reflection of personal views, as well as promoting open-mindedness or willingness to accommodate new views and develop a new bioethical perspective on life. The paper presents several examples of bioethical activism in Croatia that provided an impetus for teaching students in bioethical activism at the Faculty of Education. I will mention an example of the inclusion of the NGO Pobjede in a bioethical course on the subject of the ethical relation to animals. An example of NGO Pobjede activity was a stimulating example of bioethical activism for students.

OpisMetal alkoxides are the most commonly used sol-gel process precursors. Most alkoxides show excessive reactivity towards water. That leads to rapid hydrolysis, metal hydroxide formation, and immediate precipitation. The reactivity of alkoxides can be reduced by modification with chelation agents. Chelation influences the gelation process, which is reflected in gel structure and properties of the final material. In this short review, the chelation process, the oligomerization phenomena, and the influence of the chelating agent on the gel structure are discussed. Peculiarities of the use of FTIR and NMR, as methods particularly suitable for the investigation of chelation process, are described taking ethyl acetoacetate as an example.
